Using fancy fonts on Discord

Discord accepts Unicode in display names, server nicknames and messages, so every style on this page can be pasted straight in. Open User Settings → Profiles, paste into Display Name, and save. For a server-specific nickname, right-click your name in the member list → Edit Server Profile.

Display names are limited to roughly 32 characters, and every combining mark counts. The length shown under each result is the number Discord will count. Cursed styles fill that limit fast; gothic, script and small caps are one character per letter and fit comfortably.

Cursed text in Discord chat

Zalgo in messages is allowed by Discord itself but often banned by server rules because it overlaps other lines. Keep it light, or use it only in channels where it is welcome. Note that Discord’s markdown still applies, so underscores and asterisks inside styled text may trigger formatting.

🤔 FAQ

Why does Discord reject my cursed display name?

Usually the length: combining marks count as characters. Lower the intensity or use a letter-swap style such as gothic.

Can I use fancy fonts in my Discord username (the @handle)?

No. Handles only allow lowercase letters, digits, underscore and period. Display names and nicknames are where styled text goes.

Do fancy fonts work in Discord bios and status?

Yes — About Me and custom status both accept Unicode.

Is this affiliated with Discord?

No. Discord is a trademark of Discord Inc.; this site is an independent text tool.
